Compare the visual features of illustrations to understand the meaning of the text.
Students draw two illustrations from two different texts by the same author. They compare the visual features that create meaning, mood, and characterisation, identify similarities and differences, and explore how and why they might change the illustrations if they were the author.
This worksheet can be used in independent, paired or small group work. We recommend enlarging the print to A3 for groups to allow more space for illustrating.
You can explore author comparisons further using the Pesky Problems Worksheets.
