Use this activity to help your students decide whether a place is special to them or not and share their perspective.
This resource comes with 2 posters.
Ask children to stand up in the middle of the carpet. Lay the two game posters on either side of the space to label the two sides (Special or Not Special). Announce a place to the class e.g. dance studio. Instruct the children to move to stand on the side that resonates with them (Special or Not Special). Once all children have picked a side, call on a child from each side to state why or why not a place is special to them. E.g. Special – I love going to ballet class at the Dance Studio. Not special – I have never been to a dance studio).
This activity is part of our Foundation Geography Unit Plan.
