Description

Explore the meaning and symbolism of ‘Keeping the Fire Burning’ by creating this collaborative art piece to display in your classroom.

 

Students use a selected art medium to decorate a piece of the collaborative art piece. Each piece features a symbol that is often used to represent fire in First Nations Australian art.

 

Instructions are included on the first page of this resource to explain how to print and assemble this collaborative art piece. The amount of pieces required should be adjusted to suit your class size. The completed piece will be a square or rectangular shape.

 

To maximise the potential of this activity, we recommend inviting a First Nations Australian to share with your students their perspective and on this concept.
