This purposeful resource has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book Koala Lou by Mem Fox. These no-prep worksheets will allow you to check your students’ ability to make connections with the text.

This resource has a selection of worksheets that can be used as a follow-up to reading the story. Students will draw and describe an event that they would compete in if they were in the Bush Olympics. They can also design their own holiday hats! We have included multiple options to suit the needs of your class, including:

1. Drawing their response.
2. Drawing their response and finishing a sentence to explain it (on 24mm and 18mm lines).
3. Drawing and writing a short paragraph about their response (on 24mm and 18mm lines).

This task is perfect for independent work, a small group task, scribing, evidence for assessment or for a relief folder!

Early Years and Foundation students may benefit from having this resource enlarged to A3 to provide more space for drawing and writing.

Turn this activity into a fun art project by enlarging the drawing template to A3 and:

1. Placing it on an easel for your students to paint on.
2. Providing magazine and newspapers for students create a collage.
3. Providing craft materials, such as pom poms, pipe cleaners and buttons, for students to create a 3D image of their holiday hats.
