Description

Start your engines! In this high-energy digital game, students race their way around a dynamic track by answering questions about how people express what they like. With every correct answer, their car speeds ahead—but be careful! Incorrect answers slow them down and could cost them a spot on the winner’s podium.

Students will be presented with a simple sentence or situation and asked to choose what a person might say when they like something. For example: “If someone likes cheese, they might say...?” This supports early language development by helping students recognise and use vocabulary to express preferences and feelings in everyday situations.

The goal? Be the first to zoom across the finish line and claim a spot on the podium!

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • ✅ Identify words and phrases used to express likes and preferences
  • ✅ Develop oral language and social interaction skills
  • ✅ Recognise language connected to feelings and opinions
  • ✅ Strengthen sentence-level understanding through context
  • ✅ Participate in engaging, turn-based gameplay with real-time feedback

How to Play:

  1. Students choose their character and begin the race around the track.
  2. A question appears with a sentence or situation, and students must choose the phrase that shows someone likes something.
  3. A correct answer speeds up their car, pushing them closer to the finish line.
  4. An incorrect answer slows them down, giving others a chance to catch up!
  5. The race continues until all questions are completed and the winners are revealed on the podium.

Ideas for Classroom Use:

  • 💡 Use during oral language sessions to build vocabulary for expressing feelings
  • 💡 Great for Foundation–Year 1 students learning to use language for sharing opinions
  • 💡 Pair with role-play or sentence-building cards focused on “I like...” phrases
  • 💡 Add to rotations or use as a calm warm-up for SEL or speaking and listening lessons

Top Teacher Tips:

  • 💛 Let students personalise their experience by choosing from six characters before the game begins
  • 💛 Select the number of players or teams at the start of the game to suit individual, paired, or group play
  • 💛 Send the QR code home for students to play as a homework or revision task
