Letter & Sound Match Literacy Assessment: Early Years & Foundation is a hands-on, developmentally appropriate resource designed to support the development of phonemic awareness, alphabet knowledge and early literacy skills. Using a cut-and-paste format and simple visuals, students practise recognising letters and matching them to corresponding initial sounds.
This activity is ideal for use during literacy rotations, phonics sessions or one-on-one assessments. It helps educators identify student progress in sound identification, letter recognition and early phonological skills, while allowing students to engage in purposeful, independent work.

Materials Needed:
- Printed templates (A4 or A3, as needed)

- Encourage students to say the name of the letter and its sound as they match
