Students will learn to identify natural features of local places using symbols and stories from First Nations Australians. To enhance students learning as a class, read ‘The Rainbow Serpent’, paying special attention to the natural places mentioned in the story. Students can then use symbols of natural local places used by First Nations Australians to draw a map. This activity is part of our Local Places Natural, Managed and Constructed Year 1 Geography Unit.
