Are your students learning about different types of materials? You need our Materials Race! Materials Race is a fun game that challenges students to identify and sort objects based on the material they are made from.

Created to coincide with the Foundation Chemical Sciences Australian Curriculum, this activity will provide students with the opportunity to identify different materials. Your students will love racing to collect an object for each material!

Players will ‘race’ to fill their board as they identify the material of each object. To do this, they will take turns with a partner or in small groups to select a card from the pile. Students will verbally state the material of the object on the card and place a counter on their game board in the relevant section.

This resource includes high and low colour options. Printing the templates on thick card is recommended for longevity. The game cards must be cut out before playing. Please note that this game requires 8 counters for each player.
