This set of eight comprehension strategy templates for Matilda by Roald Dahl covers a range of comprehension techniques for before, during and after reading.
The comprehension strategies included are:
- Predicting – Predict what the book might be about based on the cover and blurb before reading; then, predict what will happen in the chosen chapters.
- Questioning – Create questions before and after reading the novel.
- Visualising – Visualise the character, Mr Wormwood and the setting of Miss Honey’s Cottage.
- Sequencing – Recall events that occurred in chosen chapters and sequence the major points.
- Connecting – Make connections to self, to another text and to the world.
- Summarising – Summarise the plot points to fit within a narrative structure.
