Measurement Mystery Image
Description
Collaboratively build a mystery image with paper strips with this whole-class measurement activity.
Follow these easy instructions to get your students to solve the measurement mystery image.
- Each student is given a task card with a measurement problem to solve.
- Once they answer, they will make a paper strip of the length they determined in the problem.
- They will then look at the clue on their card to find the adjoining number created by a classmate.
- The mystery image will be revealed once all students have combined their paper strips.
Students will need access to rulers and scissors; some may need tape or glue.
Certain cards have simpler and more complex problems that can be given to students appropriately.
Print enough paper strips (six pages) so each student has at least two pieces. Use a guillotine or paper cutter before the lesson.
An answer key is included for easy reference of all the solutions.
