Description

Looking for a crafty way to display your students’ understanding of cause and effect? You need our adorable snowman-themed Melting Snowman craft. This hands-on activity allows students to practise their fine motor skills as they cut and assemble their very own melting snowman!   Students will love the process of creating an eye-catching snowman that melts! After tracing the snowman’s body onto white felt and cutting it out, students can add the snowman’s accessories and glue a pop stick to the back of his head. This pop stick can be threaded through a slit on the backing template. The snowman can be glued to the bottom of the backing template with a thin strip of craft glue. Once these steps are complete, students can gently pull down on the pop stick to make their snowman ‘melt’!   In addition to detailed instructions and an adorable display banner, this resource includes three options to suit the needs of your class:
  1. A crafty option that includes a template for tracing onto white felt and a backing template. Please note that to complete this option, you will need to provide white felt and large pop sticks.
  2. A cut-and-paste option that includes a backing template. Please note that to complete this option, we recommend that you provide cotton wool balls.
  3. A worksheet option that is ready to be decorated. Please note that to complete this option, we recommend that you provide cotton wool balls.
  Top Teacher Tips:
  1. For a pop of colour, print the backing templates on coloured card.
  2. Enlarge the backing and snowman templates to A3 and have students paint them prior to assembling.
  3. Prepare the felt snowman bodies prior to the lesson.
  4. Flick white paint over the backing template to create a ‘snow’ effect.
  5. Encourage students to explain what is causing their snowman to melt.
Print and assemble our colourful banner to create a beautiful display of your students’ completed snowmen crafts!
