How to Complete

This resource includes completely editable text, lines and hearts, so you can adjust the template to suit your students’ needs.

 

1. Students can draw a picture of their mum or special caregiver and then write an acrostic poem about her on the lines below.
2. Choose from the large single-line version for students who will write a single word or short phrase to describe their mums, or the double-line version for those ready to write a detailed sentence.
3. The completed poems can be trimmed and backed onto coloured card. They would look wonderful on display and would make an ideal Mother’s Day gift.

 

Additional Tips

1. Modify the editable template for students who wish to write a poem about a grandmother, aunty, or other special person.
2. As a whole class, brainstorm words that describe mothers. Provide examples for each letter in the acrostic poem.
3. Offer a list of adjectives and positive traits to support students as they write.
4. Younger students may benefit from the templates being enlarged to A3.
