Celebrate Mother’s Day by making an adorable 3D strawberry that can also be used as a gift bag! This fun paper craft allows children to assemble a special gift bag that can be filled with a messages of love and appreciation or a small gift. This activity provides students with a meaningful way to show appreciation for their mothers or special loved ones.

How to Complete

1. Print the strawberry and leaf templates on thick coloured or white cardstock. Please note that once assembled, the strawberry measures approximately 7cm x 7cm. Make a large strawberry bag by enlarging the templates to A3.
2. Once cut out, hole punch the small circles and students are ready to assemble the strawberry by simply folding the tab, adding glue and securing on the inner straight edge.
3. Once dry, students can add the provided affirmations, a personal message or a small gift to the inside of the strawberry. Ensure these are placed inside the strawberry before the next step.
4. Students will thread a green pipe cleaner through the holes to secure the opening. They can then thread the leaf piece and gift tag to the top. Twist the pipe cleaner to create a handle.

Additional Tips

1. If printing the strawberry and leaf templates on white card, allow students to add colour with paint.
2. To add strawberry seeds, students can paint dots with a cotton bud or their fingers, add dots with a gold, silver or black marker or glue sequins for a shiny effect!
3. Students can use the included templates to add positive affirmations or write special messages that can be hidden inside the pouch. Alternatively, the pouch can be used to hold a small gift, such as a bracelet, coupons, tea bags or wrapped chocolates.
4. Brainstorm adjectives and phrases that describe mums and mother figures before students write their affirmations.
5. Younger students will require additional support to cut and assemble the strawberries.
