Your students can edit and receive feedback on their narrative writing with these fantastic templates that cater to Years 4, 5 and 6.

The templates feature criteria and tick boxes for the student themselves, a classmate and the teacher to complete. There are three feedback templates on one piece of paper. They are designed to be printed, cut into individual templates and then distributed to your students. The templates are also available as editable versions so that you can change the criteria if needed. They can be glued directly into student workbooks beneath a draft narrative.

There are two differentiated versions of the template in this resource. The first template for each year level is for students who may need some extra support with their writing. The second templates for each year level are aligned with the relevant listed content descriptors from the Australian Curriculum.

Your students can use the templates to assess and edit their own writing, ticking the boxes that they feel they have accomplished. When they have completed this, they can ask a classmate to read their work and provide feedback on the second row of the template. Reading each other’s work also provides invaluable learning opportunities and builds collaborative skills. The student can then edit their work based on the feedback. Finally, the work can be presented to the teacher for assessment and feedback can be given using the same template and the third row.
