These excellent templates will help to guide your students through narrative writing and provide them with useful feedback.

After writing a draft narrative in their workbooks, your students can glue one of these templates in. There are two differentiated versions of the template in the resource. The first page is for Year 6 students who need some support with their writing. The criteria on the second page are aligned with the listed Year 6 content descriptors from the Australian Curriculum. Not only are the criteria great for feedback but they can also be used when you are planning a unit on narrative writing that covers multiple parts of the English curriculum.

Your students can use the template to assess their own work by simply ticking the boxes that they feel they have achieved. If there are any that need further development, they can edit their work accordingly. Following this, their work can be given to a classmate to read through and peer assess. This is helpful for the writer but also a wonderful learning experience for the peer assessor. The student can then edit their work again if needed before passing it on to the teacher who will complete the same process.
