Description

Designed with both assessment and engagement in mind, Number Collector Assessment: Recognising Numbers 1–5 provides a practical and hands-on way to evaluate your students’ understanding of numbers from 1 to 5. With clear visuals and multiple representations, this activity is ideal for Foundation or Early Years classrooms looking to capture number knowledge in a meaningful way.

Students are asked to identify, cut, and paste a range of number representations into matching columns labelled 1 to 5. These representations include numerals, ten frames, tally marks, dice dots, and object images – supporting a strong grasp of early number concepts. This process not only checks number recognition but also builds number fluency through classification and visual analysis.

Perfect for use at the end of a unit or as part of a maths portfolio, Number Collector Assessment: Recognising Numbers 1–5 is a flexible tool that’s easy to differentiate, simple to set up, and enjoyable for students. It can also be revisited later in the year using the alternative cut and paste image page for comparison and progress tracking.
