Nursery Rhyme Count & Colour is an engaging set of worksheets that will challenge your students to identify images that rhyme with selected words from a nursery rhyme. Students will identify, colour and count the rhyming words.

Students will need to apply a range of skills to the completion of this task, demonstrating their understanding of rhyme and counting. With six different nursery rhymes explored, students will have the opportunity to gain familiarity with the layout and will approach each subsequent worksheet with a newfound level of confidence. The included rhymes are:

1. Hey Diddle Diddle
2. Hickory Dickory Dock
3. Humpty Dumpty
4. Incy Wincy Spider
5. Row, Row, Row Your Boat
6. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

Students who confidently complete the worksheets could be challenged to write the rhyming words on the back of the sheet or in their workbooks. They could then be challenged further to identify different word families within the rhyming words, for example, sky, tie and fly.

Nursery Rhyme Count & Colour is a versatile task which can be used during a unit on nursery rhymes or rhyme in general. It could be used during a lesson or a Literacy Rotation, as an early finisher task or morning activity, as evidence for assessment or it could be placed in a Relief Folder.
