Decorate your classroom while keeping students informed about the current medal tally using this paper chain tracker set! Students each select a country to track during the Games. Each morning, they collect the correct number of gold, silver and bronze medal chains they require, then loop them onto their chain with the athlete and event written on each one. After the Games, display your chains – we recommend stringing them along the roof for maximum effect! Your extension students can also research to see if any of their winning athletes have familial or cultural connections to other competing nations and can connect their chain to that country’s chain, visually demonstrating the intercultural links between our nations. We’ve also included maths-based task cards that you can use as an easy activity after the Games to make meaningful learning from your chain display. These cards are levelled in difficulty (we recommend bronze for Year 3, silver for Year 4/5 and gold for Year 6) and contain short and simple tasks students can complete using the data from their chains. Complete on mini whiteboards, in workbooks, or use one of our included recording sheets. Use as many or as few task cards as you like! Colour and black & white printing options are included.
