Description

If you’re looking for a fun and interactive way for students to demonstrate and improve their oral language skills, look no further because the Zoo Animal Flip Book has got you covered.

Students will colour images, cut dotted lines, and assemble a mini flip book that includes 9 adorable zoo animals. Once complete, students can flip the pages to create hybrid animals, for example, a giraffe’s head with a monkey’s body.

The completed flip books will encourage student conversation, allowing a teacher to listen in. Teachers could also promote conversation by asking questions about the book. For example:

  1. What colour is your animal’s body?
  2. If you could touch your animal, what would they feel like?
  3. How would your animal move?
  4. What might your animal eat?
  5. Which animal would be the strongest? Tallest? Fastest? Why?
  6. What animal is your favourite? Why?

Students can also take their flip books home and have discussions with their families about the interesting hybrid animals they create.

This activity is sure to have your class adding to their bank of descriptive and comparative language as they chat excitedly about their unique animals.
