Celebrate Mother’s Day with this beautiful flower-themed craft! Students will love creating their own 3D Paper Flower Portraits as a heartfelt tribute for their mum, a mother figure, or a special person in their life. This hands-on activity is not only creative and engaging, but also provides a meaningful way for students to express their love and gratitude.

How to Complete

This low-prep, craft activity includes two flower template options—pre-assembled or separate pieces—to suit the needs of your class.

In addition to the printable elements, students will need scissors, glue and either small photographs or drawing supplies. Add a decorative touch with craft materials such as pipe cleaners, pom poms, sequins or fine liners.

1. Choose between the pre-assembled flowers or separate flower pieces and print onto white or coloured A4 cardstock. If printing on white, allow students to paint their petals with acrylic or watercolour paints, or edicol dye.
2. Students will cut and glue the pieces together to create a vibrant 3D flower.
3. In the centre, students can either add a circular photo of their mum, mother figure or caregiver (6.5 cm diameter); create a portrait using pencils, pens or paints; or write a special message, such as a spiral poem, inside the circle.
4. Finish by gluing the completed portrait into the centre of the flower—ready for a stunning Mother’s Day display!

Additional Tips

1. To create jumbo flower portraits, enlarge the templates to A3.
2. Use two shades of the same colour for a layered, realistic petal effect.
