Your students can use these fantastic feedback templates when they are writing persuasively.

There are two versions of the template available. The first is for Year 5 students who may need some support with their writing. The second version is aligned with the Australian Curriculum content descriptors that are listed. These are the most relevant ones for persuasive writing.

After completing a draft piece of persuasive writing in their workbooks, your students can glue one of these templates underneath. They can then check that their work features the criteria and tick off the boxes that apply. This gives them an opportunity to go back and edit their work if any improvements are needed. Following this, their work can be passed to a classmate who will also provide feedback on the template. Any corrections can be made before the work is given to the teacher who will complete the same process.

This editing procedure encourages student ownership and helps to save teacher time. The work should be well-edited before reaching you and using the template for marking feedback is efficient. You could also refer to the curriculum-aligned template when initially planning your persuasive writing unit.
