Pig in the Pen Craft is an engaging and hands-on craft activity that will leave your students with a fun way to consolidate and demonstrate their understanding of prepositions.

Students will have the opportunity to make or decorate a pig before colouring and constructing its pen. Once complete, students will have a Pig in a Pen that they can take out to demonstrate different positions in relation to the pocket. For example, the pig is in the pen, behind the pen, in front of the pen, etc.

The options are endless with this low-preparation craft, making it the perfect activity to have in your repertoire! Options include:

1. Printing the templates on white cardstock and having students colour or paint before cutting and assembling.
2. Using craft materials, such as pink tissue paper squares or pom poms, to decorate the pig template.
3. Using a pink pipe cleaner for the pig’s tail.
4. Gluing googly eyes over those on the template to help bring the pig to life.

Enlarging the required templates to A3 size may be a worthwhile consideration for younger students.
