This purposeful activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey. These no-prep booklets will allow your students to create diary entries from the perspective of Pig or Trevor, demonstrating their knowledge of the text and character development.

After reading the text, students will complete a diary entry from the perspective of Pig or Trevor either before or after Pig’s accident. Students will first consider appropriate adjectives to describe either Pig or Trevor, before using them to convey the feelings of each character at different points in the text.

We have included multiple options to suit the needs of your class:

1. Pig’s diary with 24mm lines.
2. Trevor’s diary with 24mm lines.
3. Pig’s diary with 18mm lines.
4. Trevor’s diary with 18mm lines.

Print double-sided and fold down the centre to create the diary booklet.

This task is perfect for a lesson, independent work, a small group task, scribing, evidence for assessment or for a relief folder!

Early Years and Foundation students may benefit from having this resource enlarged to A3 to provide more space for drawing and writing.
