Use this activity after a reading of the text

Family Tree by Josh Pyke. The story follows the growth and lifecycle of a tree, alongside the growth and change within a family.

This resource features a themed circular plaque with the words from the first line of the story: "It all started with a seed" that can be attached to a stick and used alongside a seed planting activity. Students will plant a bean seed in a cup to observe the initial stages of a tree life cycle.
