With this excellent resource, your students can investigate the effect of point of view on readers’ responses to texts.
Two comparison texts are provided. They are both about a dog that went missing. One of the texts is written in the third person as a news report; the other is in the first person as the dog’s recount of the event. Three differentiated worksheets are provided to help your students analyse the effect of the different points of view. This includes comparing what information can be accessed from both of the texts using a Venn diagram and considering how that influences the audience’s sympathies.
