Push & Pull Procedure: Desktop Bin

Support your Year 1 students in their Physical Sciences: Push and Pull Forces unit of work with this engaging activity.
Want to get crafty while teaching your students about push and pull forces? This resource will help you do just that. This resource is a six step procedure where your students will follow the steps to create a small tabletop bin for use on their desk. Each of the six steps are written using simple language and have an accompanying picture to help guide the students through the creation process.
Push and pull forces are incorporated into the opening of the lid. A tab at the side of the lid requires a push force applied to it, in order for the lid to open. A string attached to the lid requires a pull force to be applied for it to open.
To complete the procedure, in addition to the resource, students will need a paper cup, scissors, glue, string and a bread tag (if bread tags cannot be sourced, a counter can be used as an alternative).
The bin can be personalised and decorated once completed and be a fun addition to students’ desks.
