Description

Using the concept of arrays helps students understand the relationship between multiplication and division. It also demonstrates division as sharing or grouping. This resource may be able to help your students build this concept by splitting a group of objects into quarters. With 20 interactive task cards, this activity allows your students to divide a set of insects into quarters. To start, students will choose a card and count the number of insects. They must then split the insects into quarters by drawing four circles to make a set of arrays. To add to the challenge, the insects are not arranged in any order, so the students will need to create irregularly shaped groupings to keep the quarters even. This low-prep task card set is sized to fit in the Kmart rainbow photo storage. It is also suitable for both individual and small group work. The other Halves, Quarters & Eighths Task Card Sets in this range are also available for download:
