Description

With this resource, students will create a four-page flip book that outlines economic, political and social reasons why Britain established new colonies.

When learning about why Britain colonised Australia, have students fill in the sections on each page of the flip book, using each to describe a reason for the particular focus of the page.

Choose to complete the task all at once or split the activity over multiple lessons, focusing on a different reason each time.

The resource will require two separate pages for each student. Students cut around the thick outlines, including the three tabs at the bottom of the flip book. Assemble the book by lining up the top of each page and gluing them together.

Top Tip: Assemble the flip book beginning from the last page and layering each on top.

This resource is featured in the Australian Colonies History Year 5 Unit.
