Description

Reconciliation Week: My Reconciliation Pledge is a reflective and empowering resource designed to help students explore the concept of reconciliation and make a personal commitment to building a better future. Reconciliation Week is held annually from May 27 to June 3—immediately after National Sorry Day—and is a time to recognise the cultures, histories and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to strengthen relationships built on truth, respect and unity.

Aligned with this year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, this worksheet invites students to reflect on what reconciliation means to them and why it matters. Through writing and drawing, students will create a personal pledge that includes realistic actions they can take to help foster respect, inclusivity and shared responsibility in their communities. The drawing space offers flexibility for visual learners to represent the theme, design a reconciliation symbol or illustrate their hopes for the future.

This activity is suitable for a wide range of year levels and is ideal for use during Reconciliation Week or as part of a broader inquiry into First Nations perspectives. It encourages students to think deeply, express their values, and take responsibility for contributing to reconciliation in meaningful ways. The worksheet features exclusive illustrations by Ryhia Dank of Nardurna.
