Relationships Through Language Script Writing Activities

Description
A set of three script writing scenarios where students are given three character descriptions and the relationships between them. Students will write a short script for a skit that will be performed for other students to guess the relationships between the characters based solely on the language that is used during the performance.
The scenarios for the writing activities include:
- a coffee shop – customer, barista and manager.
- a school – teacher, student and principal.
- a plant nursery – employee, young customer, senior customer.
- a blank scenario – add your own or have students come up with character descriptions themselves
Use this activity as an individual writing task and drama activity. Once students have submitted their skits and they have been checked, choose enough scenarios so that each student will perform in at least one. Once all the roles in each scenario have been uncovered, have students compare the language used in each skit to convey the roles and relationships amongst the characters.
Tip: To reduce paper usage, print the scenarios two to an A4 page using your printer settings. Cut the pages in half and distribute to students.Additional information
