Working through a book unit and needing an activity to assess students' text comprehension?

This task asks your students to redesign a book cover and blurb for a book of your choice after the publisher loses the original images. This activity has your students work towards identifying the text's main idea and developing a clear summary to explain what they have comprehended in the text. Using this knowledge, students then design an appropriate and engaging cover.

This activity would be a great conclusion to a reading unit or as a small group reading activity. These would also make a great display with the activity sheets enlarged to A3.
