This purposeful activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. These no-prep worksheets will allow you to check your students’ ability to make predictions based on text clues and prior knowledge. Prior to reading the book, students will make a prediction based on the title, cover and blurb. In addition, we have included the option for students to make a prediction before the end of the story! We have included multiple options to suit the needs of your class, including:

1. Drawing their prediction.
2. Drawing their prediction and finishing a sentence to explain it (24mm and 18mm lines).
3. Drawing and writing a short paragraph about their prediction (24mm and 18mm lines).

 This task is perfect for independent work, a small group task, scribing, evidence for assessment or for a relief folder! Early Years and Foundation students may benefit from having this resource enlarged to A3 to provide more space for drawing and writing. Turn this activity into a fun art project by enlarging the drawing template to A3 and:

1. Placing it on an easel for your students to paint on.
2. Providing magazine and newspapers for students create a collage.
3. Providing craft materials, such as pom poms, pipe cleaners and buttons, for students to create a 3D image of their prediction.
