This purposeful Christmas-themed activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book Santa Post by Emma Yarlett. These no-prep worksheets will allow you to check your students’ ability to understand the text, specifically the actions of the characters.

Students will identify the gift each character gave to Amy for Christmas. This versatile resource can be used in multiple ways. Students can use the cut and paste images to match each character to the gift they prepared. Alternatively, they can draw and write about the characters and their gifts.

Simply choose the version that best suits the needs of your class and print:

1. Students colour in the characters’ pictures and either draw or cut and paste the gift they gave.
2. Students either draw or cut and paste the characters and the gifts they gave.
3. Students draw or cut and paste a picture of the character or gift and write a short description of the gift on 24mm lines.
4. Students draw or cut and paste a picture of the character or gift and write a short description of the gift on 18mm lines.

This task is perfect for independent work, a small group task, scribing, evidence for assessment or for a relief folder!

Early Years and Foundation students may benefit from having this resource enlarged to A3 to provide more space for drawing and writing.
