This purposeful Christmas-themed activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book Santa Post by Emma Yarlett. These no-prep worksheets will allow you to check your students’ ability to sequence the main events of the story.

After reading the text, students will identify and record the main events that took place throughout the story. We have included multiple options to suit the needs of your class, including:

1. Drawing the events from the beginning, middle and end or the orientation, complication and resolution.
2. Drawing and writing about the events from the beginning, middle and end or the orientation, complication and resolution.
3. Writing about the events from the beginning, middle and end or the orientation, complication and resolution.

Please note that we have included versions with 24 and 18 mm lines.

This task is perfect for independent work, a small group task, scribing, evidence for assessment or for a relief folder!

Early Years and Foundation students may benefit from having this resource enlarged to A3 to provide more space for drawing and writing.
