Self-Checking CVC Words


Use this hands-on activity to support students in learning to segment sounds in words and then blend them together. Students tap the coloured dots as they say each sound and then run their finger along the arrow as they say the word. The students then uncover the picture to see if they sounded out the word correctly.

Add some extra fun to this activity by stringing a green, orange and pink bead onto a pipe cleaner – students can then move or touch each bead as they say each sound and then push them together as they say the word.
