Students will love creating this fun slide craft that is sure to get them excited about being back at school. This craft has been designed to include a moveable element which will look like the student is moving along the slide.

In addition to detailed instructions with an example and an optional writing template, we have included an editable document for you to add your students’ year level and options for the interactive moving craft or a static cut-and-paste craft. Choose your desired version and print the templates on white or coloured cardstock. We recommend taking photos of your students in a sliding position to add to the craft (seated on the edge of a chair at a slight angle with legs out and arms up is ideal). Whilst not essential, students may enjoy adding craft items to decorate their templates, such as pom poms, scrunched tissue paper and cotton wool.

If making the interactive craft, please be aware that an adult will need to cut along the dotted line to create a slit (a boxcutter knife would make this a quick and easy job). Provide strips of card, pipe cleaners or pop sticks to attach to the back of the cut-out photos. The photo can be slipped through the slit and moved to make the student ‘slide’ up and down!

We have also included an adorable banner that can be used to create an eye-catching display of your students’ completed crafts! If your students are completing a writing template, display these above, below or beside their craft.

Printing the templates on thick cardstock is recommended. To add colour, either print the templates on coloured cardstock or provide time for students to paint them with colours of their choice. Younger students may benefit from having the templates enlarged to A3 and will require assistance with the cutting and assembling of their crafts.
