This scientific investigation is a hands-on way to learn about erosion.
Your students will investigate whether additional items in soil affect rates of erosion by testing a range of variables including soil with grass, gravel, mulch and sand. They will identify which soil type resulted in the most and least erosion and consider what this means for communities trying to slow down erosion.
The resource includes an instructions page which has two copies on each page and can be cut in half after printing. It also has worksheets that can be printed so that your students can use them to plan, carry out and evaluate their investigation.
This resource is part of our Year 5 Earth and Space Sciences Unit. It is ideal to use alongside the Erosion PowerPoint.
