Use these activity cards to help your students practise manipulating phonemes in words. Children are required to substitute, add or delete one phoneme at each step of the ladder to create a new 3 or 4 sound word. This resource comes with 12 word ladder cards and an optional recording sheet. Each child is given a word ladder card and either a mini whiteboard or piece of paper. Starting from the bottom children write their first word. They then step up a rung and either change, add, or delete one phoneme to make the new word. Each child should finish with a ladder of 7 words on their page/board. Updated 15/01: fixed an error on p.2 & p.3
