Spin & Describe Writing Game
Description
Your students can enjoy using the senses when writing descriptively with this fun spinner game.
There are two spinners on the board, one with the senses and one with different settings. Arrows can be attached to the game board or a pencil and paperclip can be used. Your students will need to use what they land on to write a piece of descriptive text. They will need to tune into their senses and imagine how it might feel to be in the setting. The length of writing required and the literary devices to be included can be set by the teacher depending on the year level, student abilities and what is currently being covered in writing lessons. Between a sentence and a paragraph may be appropriate.
When the students complete a piece of writing, they can then put a counter on the corresponding spot on the game board. The aim is to get three counters in a row or diagonally to win the game.
You can simply print the spinners and the game board and incorporate them into your next literacy sessions.
