Help your class develop their reading comprehension with the Summarising a Text task. Students will use the scaffolded templates to assist them in composing a summary of an informative or imaginative text.

This resource includes an information report titled ‘Bees’ and a narrative titled ‘Sweet Chaos’. Both texts include an example of a summary plan and a summary paragraph. We recommend that students refer to the relevant example before completing a written summary of a text of their choice.

We have included a variety of worksheet layouts to suit the diverse needs of your students. In addition, we have included colour and black-and-white versions of the example texts.
