Are your students learning about the Sun, shadows or telling time? Our Sunshine Sundial Craft is just what you need! This craft will provide students with the opportunity to see first-hand how the Sun’s position in our sky changes throughout the day. This movement casts shadows and enables us to tell time.

Students will cut out and assemble their sundial using the included templates, a small ball of play dough and a straw. Once assembled, students can use their sundial to track the time of day! This resource includes:

1. Detailed instructions
2. Sunshine sundial pieces (includes all pieces to make a friendly sun face and numbers 1-12)
3. An optional backing template.

Please ensure that in addition to the printable resources, students have access to play dough and straws.

Top Teacher Tips:

1. Students may benefit from the pieces being enlarged to A3.
2. We recommend printing the templates on coloured cardstock; however, if printing on white, allow your students to paint their pieces prior to assembling them.
3. Once the activity is complete, simply remove the straws and play dough and the sundials can be put on display in your classroom!
