Description

Create a heartfelt and memorable Mother’s Day card with this charming cupcake-themed resource. Designed for flexibility and fun, this low-prep resource includes two creative options - Print & Colour or Print & Craft - making it suitable for a range of classroom needs.   How to Complete Students will create a delightful cupcake card featuring the phrase ‘You’re the Sweetest!’ and can personalise it with a message for their mum or special caregiver. The resource includes editable templates to support diverse family structures and multiple handwriting line options (24mm, 18mm, 14mm).   In addition to the printable elements, please provide A4 coloured card. If using the Print & Craft option, you will also need to supply paint, pom poms, sequins, patty pans, glitter and craft glue.   Option 1: Print & Colour
  1. Provide each student with a piece of A4 coloured card, a card cover and a message template.
  2. Students will fold the piece of card in half, colour in the cover and complete their message template.
  3. Students will glue the cover to the front of the folded card and the message to the inside.
  4. Students have the option to enhance their card by adding glitter or sequin ‘sprinkles’ and a pom pom to the top of the cupcake.
  Option 2: Print & Craft
  1. Provide each student with a piece of A4 coloured card, a card cover and a message template. They will also need access to paint, a patty pan, craft items (see list above) and craft glue.
  2. Students will fold the piece of card in half, colour the letters on the cover and complete their message template.
  3. Students will glue the cover to the front of the folded card and the message to the inside.
  4. With the support of an adult, students will paint their hand to create a cupcake handprint. We recommend painting three strips of colour horizontally on their hand so the palm, fingers and fingertips are different colours.
  5. Students will press their handprint in the space on the card cover. While it is wet, they can sprinkle glitter on the fingers.
  6. Once dry, students can glue a patty pan to the base and a pom pom to the top. They could also add sequins to the patty pan.
Once complete, the cards are ready to be gifted to a loved one!   Additional Tips
  1. For a simpler experience, use only one colour of paint for students' handprints.
  2. Set up a hand-painting station with paper plates, paintbrushes, and different coloured paints. Ensure an adult supervises this part of the activity.
This adorable card makes a thoughtful gift and is a perfect addition to your Mother’s Day celebrations.   Be sure to check out our other Mother’s Day resources!
