This task card activity will get your students moving around the room as they practise addition and subtraction problem solving!

Our Swimming Under the Sea activity is suitable for individual or small group work. Decide whether you would like your students to complete the addition or inverse operations task cards, place the cards around the room, distribute recording sheets and your students are ready to find and solve the problems.

The addition cards feature an addition number sentence and a matching collection of sea creatures which students can record on their recording sheet as they solve the problem.

The inverse operation cards only feature a collection of sea creatures which means that students are required to count the creatures in the collection to work out an addition number sentence and a related subtraction fact to record on their recording sheet.
