This task card activity will help your students identify pictures based on the given number of syllables.   Each card contains a spinner pinwheel with 5 numbers which corresponds to the number of syllables. It also contains 8 mini pictures with different numbers of syllables. Using a spinner manipulative (preferably a game arrow spinner), the students will cover the correct picture based on the given number of syllables.   To make the game more thematic, have your students pretend to be mini detectives solving a case. In order to succeed in the case, they must first make sure to cover the correct pictures based on the number of syllables that will be pointed at.
