This activity contains 12 Symbol Hunt Cards designed by a First Nations Australian artist to use a tuning in activity and to assist students in writing a short story about their land while including the symbols on the cards.

Print enough cards so students have one each and hide them around the room. Instruct the children to find a card each. Once students have a card, ask them to draw their symbols on the story ideas worksheet provided. Students can then use this template to plan a short story about their connection to their land’s waterways, natural objects, and animals.
