Use this word bank to help your students use more exciting words in their writing. Are your students constantly using the words said, pretty, happy, sad, big, little, good, bad, nice, saw, walked, smart, love, funny, mad, scared?   This document provides 10 more exciting words for each of these.   These are great placed a ring for students to flick through.   Another idea is having a large piece of card with 16 pockets (old library style pockets are perfect for this) and on the front of each pocket glue the heading card. Inside each pocket place the more exciting words. During writing students are able to come and choose a word from the pocket instead of using the common word. Depending on the level of your class you may like to only focus on a few of these words at a time or slowly introduce more words to build excitement about the using the resource.   They work fantastically with our matching posters!
