Let’s Steal – Telling the Time: O’Clock & Half Past

You’ve reached the tomb, and it’s time to get the treasure! Do you play it safe and take the small pieces of treasure, or risk it all to get the big score?

In this thrilling digital game, students practise telling the time by reading a written time and matching it to the correct analogue clock face. Focusing on o’clock and half past times, students build essential time-telling skills while navigating the excitement of a high-stakes treasure hunt. With every correct answer, they’ll have a choice—secure their treasure, or risk it and go for more!

Will they play it safe or go for the ultimate prize?

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • ✅ Accurately match written times to analogue clock faces
  • ✅ Recognise o’clock and half past times on analogue clocks
  • ✅ Develop fluency in reading and interpreting time
  • ✅ Strengthen understanding of time concepts through visual matching
  • ✅ Engage in interactive, risk-based gameplay to reinforce time skills

How to Play:

  1. Students are presented with a written time (e.g. “half past 2”).
  2. They must match it to the correct analogue clock face.
  3. Each correct answer reveals a piece of treasure.
  4. Players then choose to either collect that treasure and bank it—or risk it to try for a bigger reward.
  5. If they answer the next question incorrectly, they fall through the trapdoor and lose all unbanked treasure.

Ideas for Classroom Use:
