Description

This Mother’s Day Wanted Poster is the perfect way for students to express their appreciation for their mum, mother figure or special person in a fun and creative way. Inspired by the book My Mum’s the Best by Rosie Smith and Bruce Whatley, this activity encourages students to describe their mum using personal details. Students will fill out the wanted poster using key characteristics, special phrases, and personal insights about their mum, making it a memorable keepsake.   How to Complete This versatile Mother’s Day resource includes both a ready-to-use and an editable version, meaning you can change the title and prompts to suit the needs of your class.
  1. Students will fill in the details about their mum, including her name, what they call her, her age, something she always says and where she will most likely be found! Depending on the version selected, students may also mention something their mum does that they love.
  2. In the blank space provided, students can either draw a picture of their mum or glue a photo.
  3. Once complete, these can be displayed in the classroom or sent home as a wonderful Mother’s Day surprise.
  Additional Tips
  1. Read My Mum’s the Best by Rosie Smith and Bruce Whatley to introduce the activity.
  2. If students are unsure about some details (such as age), remind them that guessing is okay.
  3. Choose between the 24mm or 18mm line widths. If additional space is required, enlarge the template to A3 size.
  Extension Ideas
  1. Make It a Gift: Back the completed poster to onto a piece of coloured card to create a thoughtful low-prep Mother’s Day gift.
  2. Classroom Display: Create a gallery wall of students’ work to celebrate all the amazing mums. Be sure to hang one of our Mother’s Day banners <add link to lower years banners> alongside the posters to make your display extra special!
