This activity is designed to be completed after a whole class reading of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. It is an engaging task that will challenge students to identify pairs of rhyming words from the text.

Students will identify each rhyming pair before cutting and pasting the cards onto the worksheet. We have included pictures to support students in identifying the rhyming words. As students identify the rhyming pairs, they have the opportunity to practise recognising familiar sound patterns, making it easier to decode new words when reading.
