This purposeful back to school activity has been designed to accompany a whole class reading of the picture book The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright. These no-prep worksheets provide the opportunity for your students to reflect upon how the main character is presented at the beginning of the story compared to the end of the story.

Students will use words and pictures to describe Kevin the Koala’s actions and feelings at the beginning of the story and the end of the story. To cater for the needs of your students, we have included three versions of this activity:

1. Students will draw pictures that show Kevin the Koala at the beginning and end of the story. Students may like to label their drawings with describing words, such as scared or brave.
2. Students will draw pictures and write a sentence to describe how Kevin the Koala changed from the beginning to the end of the story (24mm and 18mm line widths are included).
3. Students will either write or cut and paste words to describe how Kevin the Koala changed from the beginning to the end of the story. We have included a list of 20 words for students to use if they complete the cut and paste version of this template.

Younger students may benefit from having the templates enlarged to A3 for ample writing and drawing space.
